New speaker time

Alright time for new speakers, just noticed that both my passenger sides are out today lol. My budget is $300 for 4 speakers and a amp, is that doable? Or should I just spend the 300 on the speakers and get the amp later? I'd like to run components in the front and then just coaxils in the rears so what is a good brand, etc, etc. Links would be fantastic

sounds too complicated. id run some pioneer 4 ways and amp them, would sound great.

get a nice 4 way 1000W amp to power them. i think you might be able to do it for 300, but just get the speakers for now.

yeah speaker now and amp later would be the best so you wont have to worry about getting too cheap on them.

Ive always liked pioneer for speakers and head units. they seem to do those right but alpine and infinity are pretty popular

Ive always used Pioneers for speakers, but I think im going to try the Infinities next though. On the F150's I read somewhere to not even bother replacing the rears. Changing the front speakers is probably one of the easier ones to do just pop off the panel with a screw driver and then four 7mm(I think) holding the speaker in...

I wouldn't skimp on the setup (more specifically the components/speakers), Infinity Reference's and then buy an amp as needed. I absolutely love mine, but are underpowered by the AVIC.

- If you buy lower end speakers, adding an amp will make you wish you had gone for the higher quality model/brand as the lower sound quality will become (more) obvious.

One of my rears is out so I don't have a choice lol. I think what I might do is move the driver front that is working to the passanger rear and just add speakers to the front and amp those. Once I get a sub I won't hear the rears anyway, they'll just be used for rear fill so the quality of them doesn't matter a huge bit.

Go for Pioneer Premier speakers, and then a 4-channel amp. I'm about to have that setup in my truck, once I figure a way to mount my amp.

It will be:

Rockford Fosgate RFX-9420 head unit
MA Audio M498i (I think) 4-channel amp
Pioneer Premier TS-A841 speakers (already in truck)

Yeah, the MA amp isn't the best, but I got it brand new off eBay a few years ago, and it has plenty of power to run 4 door speakers, as I had it in my old car, doing the same thing with the same head unit.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go with the Pioneers again, I had them in my Ranger and I liked them a lot. Its either them or the Polk DB571s. What is a quality cheap amp?

Here's what I can remember from when I was in high school and we were all into car audio...please don't flame me, most of this is hearsay, I'll denote products/brands I have experience with **

Sony Amps were crap...was told on more than one occasion they lie about their ratings, and the speakers weren't up to par
**Fosgate has good products all around, pretty budget friendly**
**Polk has good stuff for the money (I had some Polk 5.25s...got them at Fry's on sale, took everything I threw at them, including amping them (granted I didn't throw all that much))**
Infinity is good stuff, shop around for the best price, they used to be all over the place, depending on where you went
**You can't go wrong with Pioneer, and spending the extra money on Premier is def worth it**
Alpine is dependable, but can be less than friendly to your wallet
JL makes good stuff too

Thanks for the info! Yeah I'm not a huge fan of sony audio products so I won't go with those.

My F90BT and stock speakers would shack the mirrors lol

Oh one more noob question, when a amp says 4x100 does that mean each speaker has 100 watts going to it or each speaker has 25 watts going to it?

What do you guys think about this one? Would this push enough power for the speakers below?

Pioneer GM-6400F 4-channel car amplifier — 60 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com

Pioneer TS-D6802R 6"x8" 260W 2-Way Car Speakers

that stuff looks good...

another brand is Lightning Audio. They are Rockford-Fosgate's budget brand. It's a little lower cost, but still really good stuff. I like their wiring kits. Don't have any other products of theirs.

God, I prolly sound like I work for R-F lol

Infiniti Kappa's. For sure.

With them amped they sound unbelievable. Like better than any other components i've heard and their pretty inexpensive.

I just put some Kappa's in my girlfriends car and in my opinion the Pioneers sound better for what I listen too.

Yep - its all in your ears honestly - Every speaker has its own hit on what its better at.. some are better on mids/highs, some on the lows... And of course - the amps always help too =) I'm in the process of choosing an amp for my own vehicle.. and am debating getting this one:

JBL Car & Marine Audio

And for the inquiries I will surely get about the "low" amount of power from this - You sure as heck dont need 1000 watts to power in-door speakers - anything between 50-75 is more then enough to annoy your neighbors.. anything past that and your in a pissing contest with the ricers at a stop light.

go all out on audio I say. I listen to music EVERY time Im in my truck. If one little thing is off, I notice and it bothers me. I would go with components in the front, and 2 or 3 ways in the rear, and if you wanna save money, just amp the front components.

I ordered those 4 way Pioneers, I didn't want to deal with the install of components in the front and I'm not going to run a amp right now so those will be fine for the time being.
