They may be there if you take off that rear panel. My daughters 1998 had the wires anyway when I went to look for them. I changed her radio and the connector was even wired for them even though it had the incredibly cheap AM/FM only when I bought it used.

What year is it, Evan? I can't remember where they were, but I had a devil of a time digging them out. Ford had tucked them away pretty good so they wouldn't rattle. It was years ago though so sorry I can't remember exactly.

Yeah, that was the same radio she had. It was a used commercial truck.

Maybe by 2001 Ford was using different harnesses. So you might not have them after all it seems. Bummer. Well, it didn't hurt to look I guess.

You won't have any wires back there......my 2000 XL didn't have any. Just run some speaker wire from the back along the passenger side rocker panel trim and behind the glove box.

there is a schematic on this site with the stereo pinout. just splice into those wires and you are set. Took me about an hour from start to finish. I added a factory unit with cassette and MP3 compatable.

If the wires are in the connector to the radio, they probably run all the way back. Maybe not, but it's possible. Question is, where did they leave them?

they tie them off about a foot after the connector, and dissappear somewhere behind the dash, and they aren't at the back i had my mat all the way out of my truck looking for them
