it sucks becuz you cant bypass it to watch dvds even with the add on of a dvd changer or ps2. I tried bypassing and it worked only until we found out the way that i was told shorted out the circuitry for the cd lense. Overall its a cool unit but get an avic n1 if you can that way you can really use it.

Personally I was about to get that head unit awhile back but than decided not to. It has sooo much great stuff and to what he said about not being able to bypass it, not entirely true. If you do some searching on google, there is a write up on it BUT there is soldering involved in the process so for some it may be pretty tricky. If you don't get this one, you might want to look at the Eclipse Double dine Its like the 3495 or something like that, don't remember but its supposed to be better than the N2 and it comes with the theft warranty and other random stuff. Whatever you do get, let us know how it is! Good Luck.

I get what your saying and yeah, may work for some but not for others. Another thing to look at is also the AVIC-N1, that can be grounded out and able to watch DVDs and stuff like that. It has pretty much the same features as the N2 and almost the same price tag also, heh.

Yeah, up to a year after you buy your Eclipse stuff, they will replace it if it is stolen, no questions asked.

Someone I know actually screwed them over. They filed a report on the subs and amp when they had just took it to someone else's house. They went to the audio shop and they had their new subs and amps in a couple days.

And now wouldn't that make you an accessory to the crime that was commited? Wouldn't that be classified as fraud....

Hmmm, I will have to do some looking around. I don't normally have passangers so I don't really need to worry about watching dvd's going down the road lol Plus the cops around here are really cracking down on that stuff. 1000 dollar fine here and you can't appeal it in court either.

I was looking at the n1/n2...2 things stopped me dead in my tracks

1. they have LOW pre-amp outs (I believe 2V)
2. Only a 6.5 screen???

I ended up deciding that if I got one, it would be the kenwood one. I can't remember model #, but it's about 1700 dollars. On ebay it's like 800 Who needs a warranty???

And I'm actually thinking about a carputer...the only thing thats holding me back is that I'm so used to a regular H/U (playing MP3 Cd's and such) and the interface...I don't like the carputer interface where you have to touch the screen, etc. I like a remote (it can be done but it's never 100 percent on a carputer supposidly). I just think an indash will be sooooo much easier...IMO and a bit more cost efficient

I am a member over there already :p

I would go with a carputer, but the deal is that I just really don't want to piece it together like that requires. I may down the road do that but for now the avic will do the trick. Plus I really like the vehicle dynamics display that the avic has.

is it the same one you tap off a OHC? I just did the VSS, it wasn't bad at all, same as anything else...maybe I'm wrong.

and the flipup thing is kinda whats keeping me from getting one...that and the fact you can't go active with an internal eq (or I've yet to find one that I can)

i'm thinkin about an eclipse or alpine (i wanna go active) i know alpines 9289 (or something like that) goes active by the little switch on the bottom.

The ac vent problem is ver easy to solve. Just put a piece of black plastic over the inside inlet of the vent.

Hmmm, I wonder if I can switch for the eclipse indash screen instead of the pioneer...

If i were you I would get the eclipse...pioneer only has a 6.5 screen (can be kinda small for navi) and it has low volt pre-outs

best one i found was kenwood believe it or not. IIRC 5v pre outs and a 7" screen. can be had for 800 on ebay. I was thinking about getting it. and there is no need for navi disks...IIRC it has everything internal...click here

and this one is a little less money...basically same features IIRC click here

The thing that I liked about the eclipse was that it had an internal hard drive that was around 4 gigs or so. The Pioneer only has 7.5mb. That way I could store songs and navi info on it. But the only drawback is that it is in plain view all the time.

That is what the guy said, but on the other sites, they say that it really is like 1 7/8 din. Just a little trimming of the mounting kit and it will fit.

i dunno, the mounting kit has tabs that are right near the edges...that would be kinda hard.

It is a 1.5 din, I just checked it...a double din will not fit. Check on crutchfield.com too, it says it won't fit. Also the unit is too deep to fit also, it will hit the mounting support brace. Just get a flipout...it will be worth it. (i'm not speaking from experience i've never had one)

i don't have fab skills...i would never try that. what is involved though? it doesn't seem like it's even close to fitting...really
