Pioneer Mod

I tapped into my IP-Bus connector on the back of my HU and attached a 1/8" mini plug. With this I can plug into any MP3 player, ipod, laptop, etc., with a headphones jack and play out of my HU.

that's how I've been using my ipod in the truck, works beautifully!!!!

so much cheaper than any FM tuner and no static at all. I love pioneer.

anyone interested, I got my IP-bus of ebay for $17 and you can get the rca/ 1/8th jack at radio shack for under $5

I just used the cord from a set of headphones that no longer work. I am pretty happy with it.

I don't get it. So are you plugging into the factory ranger deck?

no, that's why it's called the pioneer mod... Pioneer head units only.

The IP-Bus plugs into a port on the back of Pioneer headunits that was designed to accept multiple cd changers and converts it to RCA female plugs. Then you add the pigtail that has the male RCA plugs at one end and the "mini" or 1/8th headphone jack at the other end. I personally have the pigtail running out the bottom of my dash and it's a lengthy on so I can be holding it anywhere in truck. You could have it come out the cubby hole on the dash mounting kit if you wanted that is up to you. I did this to my truck around january right after I bought an 80 dollar FM tuner that was supposed to be top of the line and it died 3 days later and I couldnt find the receipt. I was livid.

Pioneer decks have an IP-Bus port.

Here is a brief How-to.
