I'm new here so hi everyone! I did a quick search of the forums (not to mention hours of searching on google) and didn't turn up any results directly relating to my problem so here it is and I apologize if my question has been answered in a thread elsewhere.

Basically, I'm new to the world of audio upgrades but I wanted to make my truck shake a little so after a little research I decided the easiest option for me was to buy a Bazooka Tube. From what I've read, it's supposed to come with everything I need to install it to either a factory or aftermarket head unit (mine is factory). I also asked the salesman at Future Shop and he told me the same thing. However after removing the CD player thing from the dash and poking around behind it I couldn't see anywhere the supposedly universal wires would fit.

Do I need some kind of adapter kit and if so where would I buy it? Walmart?

Bonus question: where should I connect the ground wire to?

Bazooka's have speaker level inputs to hook up to factory hu. I hooked my ground to one of the rear seat bolts, just scrape off the paint very well for good contact and you can use one of those ring type connectors.

 

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by speaker level inputs.. I'm a noob haha sorry

 

Hey no problem man, see if I can explain this properly haha. When the deck has no RCA outputs, you need to use speaker level, sometimes called line level converters, so you hook the decks speaker lines to the speaker level converters on the amp, and then from there you run the wire to the speakers so you have an amped signal running to the speaker.

 

Ok, everything is more or less fine now, I just over-estimated the simplicity of the installation. The only problem I have now is that I have no idea how to supply power to the amp. This is the diagram I used to connect all the audio cables correctly but the power cables are either incorrect in the diagram or I'm doing something wrong. I connected the "ignition switched" to the "O" port (ignition wire) and the other "amp power cable to the "P" port (battery wire). I've tried reversing them to no avail. I've read online that you have to connect it directly to the battery through the firewall of the car but I have not the first idea how to do this.

 

Ok, did you make sure that you have a good ground? It's very important. Also, I'm not sure about Bazookas, but does the amp have a remote turn on wire? Make sure it's connected if it does, usually a thin blue wire. For power connection, I had bought an amp kit which has all the hookup wires you need, including a large cable to run power to the battery and a inline fuse which should be installed close to the battery, then just run it through the firewall and into the cab and hook it to the amp.

 

I connected the ground to an unpainted bolt int the truck, I don't know if that would be good enough. And there are two twelve volt wires, one says "ignition switched" and is red and the other says "amp turn on" and is blue and white.

 

If there is painted surface where that bolt attaches to, I would scrape the paint off very well, just to make sure it's a good ground. Is the remote (amp) turn on wire hooked up yet? If not, since you have the factory deck, it will need to be hooked up to a switched power source as well, because it tells the amp to turn on when the ignition is turned on. Aftermarket decks have a remote turn on lead. One time I forgot to hook that wire up and my amp did not power up, took me a minute to figure out lol.
