Radio antenna

I need to replace the stock radio antenna on my 1999 XLT. Can someone advise how to remove the old one?A diagram would be very usefull.

Are you talking the antenna itself or the wire?

I would think the wire, but why do you need to replace everything?

I did not think I could replace the antenna cable only, the plug fell apart due to rust. I tried to use a cable extention, it works but reception is not good.

Just get a new one but before you pull out the old one, tape or tie a string to it to lead the new antenna cable where you want it to go.
