i got an 8 for ya right here http://www.soundsplinter.com/rli_ser...formation.html
prolly the biggest 8 out u can get i think, handels 350rms but can prolly take 500 or so easy, xmax of 17.8mm which is crazy for an 8, most 12s are like 10-15mm unless u get a nice one u can get more, my XXX is 32mm, and xmax is how far the cone can move 1 way

2 of those 8s would be killer, they also have a 10 that is like it, 8s are harder to find than 10s so if u want 8s u are limited

thats definitely a budget you can work with.... here are the musts;

jl 10w6v2 10" sub - 400rms: $250 new on ebay
jl 500x1 monoblock amp - 500w $350 new on ebay
jl 300x4 amp - 75x4 or 150x2: $350 new on ebay

as for the door speakers.. you can either go with just two in the front, which will raise your soundstage, or you can put in all 4 and amp em all.

i'm running 5x7 infinity kappas all around, each pushed by 111 watts. the two rear are set lowpass and the two fronts are set highpass.

as far as headunits are concerned youd still have plenty of funds left over for a nice one. i'd recommend anything from alpine - they dont always look as flashy of some of the other decks out there, but their sq is unmatched imo. pioneer has some nice decks also. if its flashy youre looking for, sony and pioneer both have some neat ones.

did i mention that 10w6v2 will freakin bump? :o)

get some infiity speakers, they sound so amazing... or just buy components and cover every range....

as far as headunits, id go with alpine or kenwood, both make very nice units that are focused on sound not on putting in a 4" tv and other crazy crap

I had two sony xplode 10 inch subs in the back of my extended cab 95 s10 with a custom box i made. They hit harder than my friends 2 12 inch jl w7s. My speakers busted my front windsheild. The box is what makes the subs sound so good. I still have the box sitting in my closet. I know everyone hates sony speakers also. I brought my truck to a sound show and no one believed they were sonys hitting so hard.

Lol...I don't believe that. Unless he powered the W7s with the rear channels of his stock headunit or something, there is just no way. I had Xplods for my first system ever, and they couldn't come close to a JL w3, let alone the big gun w7.

I will agree box makes a HUGE difference, as does power.

I had a 2000 watt amp going to my mids and highs. I had a 1600 watt amp going to my subs. My box was a dual 4th Order Bandpass box. I was using profile amp for my subs. My friend had a 600 dollar punch amp. The whole problem was his box was ****. My box was air tight. His box was sealed but air still got into the box. His speaker faced striaght up as did mine. I could flip my box over and have my subs firing down and they would hit as loud as his if not a little less loud. 4th Order Bandpass boxes are amazing. If you have the room for them they are amazing. I am going to let someone use my sub box for scraping the coast. If anyone doesnt believe me they can come down and hear the box in action.

Are those power ratings actual RMS ratings? Or max power?

profile amp is
320 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
480 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
960 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms
the other amp
is a 4 channel amp and the rms is low on it but it was enough to push all my mids and highs.

For starters, start thinking about removing the tire jack and tools from behind the seat.

Single 10" sub

Sub amp is under driver seat.

Amps, just make sure they are well built and cool well. I've had awesome reliability from MTX amps mounted in the worst of areas.

If you want really be loud, then start thinking bigger...
single 12" box with integrated amp racks

All I can say, is look for subs with a minumum top mount depth. Get grills to prevent any seat to subwoofer interference.

And thank god I now have a supercab...

Hold on there Just a Darn minute!! I'll have a deisgn posted in an hour or so!! I've got a 02 edge reg cab and I'm starting to build the box for my RE SX12 ($270 shipped from RE) it's about 1.7 Ft3... The measurements may be slightly smaller. Oh, and I'm kinda short (5'1") so that may also be a problem...

2 10" Sonys pushed by a 620watt amp(I know it doesnt mean it puts out 620watts, maybe 310 watts, so 155watts a channel) in a very restricted airspace but are damn good, In the doors and the back are walmarts Pioneers for $50 a pair that sound damn good, the cd player is the same one at walmart too..
