I just bought a 98 ranger, the stereo works in it (its the factory) but the lights on the screen that shows the like the time and what track the cd is on and all that doesn't light up. Is my best option to replace the stereo or is there a way to fix the sceen to light up again?

 

Without knowing if the actual display is broken, its hard to say if popping in a new factory radio would fix the problem or not, if you have a pull it yard that has a return policy like i do, you can always just try to pop one in and if it works then your problem is solved, installing an aftermarket head unit would cost more, but at the same time work and give you a better sound.
