Well its pissing me off in my truck how the paneling shakes when i listen to my music. I asked a guy i know at the shop if i shud get Dynamat and he said its not worth the money and it wont fix it. How shud i fix this ****?

Dynamat usually runs near 15-30 depending on how much you need. But I know theres a brand that costs less than Dynamat.

I just can't think of the name right now.

 

Well they have like Boom Mat and stuff like that, but I have Dynamat extreme (firewall "excuse me, bulk head.. ha", Headliner, All doors, floor). I can hear anything inside my truck with both windows up @ 65mph and, well I think it's worth it. It cost me about 300 dollars just for the dynamat, just bought a huge bulk kit of it. But anyway... If you don't have alot of money for something like that, even just your doors would be good. Let me know how it works out

www.fatmat.com .....i ordered the 100sq ft bulk kit, on sale for 90+30 shipping. i heard its the best deal out there for those who dont have "hookups" on sound deadening like dynamat.....some says its actually better. i will work on it tomorrow, and maybe finish, who knows

 

I used E-dead V.2 and I believe I bought 60 sq. ft. for something like 48 bucks... I can't remember, maybe rideac1 will post, he bought for me hehe

 

I put Elemental Designs eDead V.2 on my front doors, and eDead V.3 on the entire roof (see topic). I like their products and the pricing is decent. In the rear doors I filled them up with fiberglass house insulation R-32 or whatever it is. I'm going to get more eDead V.2 for the rear cab panel and rear doors. I have NO shakes/rattles in my truck at all, actually last night I stood outside of my truck with the HU remote and cranked a song to the highest setting that I figured out without blowing my subs, with all the windows up and doors shut. I could hear just about no bass and there are NO rattles anywhere! Then I opened up the door and got blown away by the bass.
I'm going to paint deadeder on the entire floor this weekend, check for a post about that sometime this weekend or next week.

Other deadening available that i've heard good about is the Fatmat as mentioned, and Secondskin. Dynamat is way overpriced since it's readily avaibable from Bestbuy and such. All of the products are close in physical makeup, check them all out if you plan on spending alot and doing the entire truck.

 

Does anyone use rattle can deadener?

 

the one guy from hawaii that posted a few times used a brush on deadener and he seemed to like it so i cant see rattle cans being any diffrent..

 

if its just the panelings vibrating go pick up some of that rubber mat stuff you line draws and tool boxes with its like got holes in it made up of little round spots put it between the panels and the metal behind it, it will stop the vibrating its a cheap and redneck way of making it work

I just ran to wally world on my bike(took me 40mins to go 5 miles, run through wally world, pay, and drive the 5 miles back....and clean the gash i got on my forehead....but thats a whole different story) and bought some Mar-Hyde #4211 Rubberized Under Coating...$3.67 a can....It says it Repels Water, Prevents Rust, Deadens Sound, and its Flexible.....we will see how well it works shortly. Drying times should be faster today thanks to direct sun in the drive way and the 81* MN Humid Heat!

 

The brush-on deadener from Elemental Designs that I used was really thick. It would stand no chance being able to be sprayed from a rattle can or any type of sprayer. It has a pasty/icing consistency, way thicker than Elmers glue, enough that I painted my roof with it and it didn't drip at all (other than a few minor spots)!

 

The spray undercoating would work, IF it wasn't messy and smelly as *uck. And it's going to be hard to get it thick enough to make a large difference, unless a bunch of coats were used, but would be rough because it stays pretty tacky for a while and will probably run and drip. The thinnest mat deadener i've seen is much thicker than possible with spray undercoating, in my opinion.

 

I have a sub box with two bottles of the new Duplicolor or DuPont stuff they sell at autozone. It's spray on stuff and kinda looks like bedliner when it dries. It's really really rubbery, though and you have to let it dry for a long time before you touch it (in my case)...

well i guess im gonna wing it anyways....and yeah ill be doing several thin coats to make it thick. thats why im gonna use the sun and heat as my drying advantages today, Im also gonna utilize my 42" barn fans.....that aught to speed stuff up.

thanks....i guess anything is better than nothing....besides for optimum noise cancelation...and other purposes Im going to be having my truck completely sprayed with Rhino Liner....

Rhino Liner is colored....making it more like this.... Color > Black (because then i wont have to change my title) and Line X = black only....therefore Rhino Liner > Line X.....

I checked out some other companies colored bed lining materal and it reminded me of a hard plastic fender flare....and it was glossy and didnt really blow my skirt up.

 

I used an Ice and Water shield in the place of Dynamat. Its CHEAP, looks very similiar to dynamat, and you can get it at Lowes/Home Depot.

 

I was also at Lowes, I researched on caraudio.com forums on deadening before I bought anything. At Lowes they sell PEEL N SEAL, it's for roofing patches. It costs more than the eDead that I bought and looks alot worse. It's much thinner.
I did buy a gallon of liquid stuff ( Kool Seal or something ) that's for on roofs to protect from moisture and to reflect light to keep cooler. It's an elastomeric latex mixture which is similar to the eDead V.3 that I used already, and the Kool Seal is 18$ compared to 50$. I'm going to paint that on my floor of my truck this weekend, also i'm going to mix in some sand to make it thicker and deader. There will be a whole big post on that probably during of after this wekeend. I'll see how that works out.

 

i heard that peel and seel make your truck smell like tar for weeks and was rediculously oily...
