Are you using the stock headunit or aftermarket?

Do you have an amp wiring kit?

yeah, don't use the stock head unit. but it can be done, though it would be easier with an aftermarket head unit that has the RCA outputs and a dedicated subwoofer output.

Why do you want to keep the stock head unit? With an aftermarket you would have more options for tuning and better sound quality

X2 if you are spending $$$ on speakers/amp/wire go with a new radio!

Indeed, the sound quality will be greatly improved with an aftermarket head unit. That should be the first thing you buy instead of speakers.

Some units you can just ground the wire. Other units you need a switch that grounds the wire after the unit boots up.
