new stuff and ? on bridging...

i had some extra money come in from the army, so i upgraded my front speakers to JL audio xr series components. and i finally found a good deal on a 10w3 sub. so yeah! the system will be done as soon as they get here. now, a question on bridging:

i still have a 5 channel amp, but now i just have a set of front speakers. so if i bridge the front speakers over the 4 open channels, i'll get a lot more power to them right? because the JL's RMS is 80w, and the amp just puts out 50w per 2 channels.

well, thanx in advance.

oh yeah i'll have the alpine type r component set for sale as soon as the new ones come in. make me an offer, i bought'em for $130 shipped.

yes you will get more power by bridging but not all amps are good for bridging so be careful with it.

im not good with amps right off the top of my head. i cant just tell you information about it unless i get a good look over with it. alpines usually make good equipment and they know wut they are doing so you should be alright.

you know to go + on say the right front and - on the left front right? i may have that backwards but thats the ways its done and i had a 250 watt bridgeable, oldest sony probably ever made, amp powering my 6x9s and it worked just fine.

so use 2 channels for one speaker, right? speaker 1 wires go to LF -, and RF +, and speaker 2 wires go to LR -, and LF +.... right? does it double the power?

not always true, most amps are marked for bridging to show which wire goes where.

i wouldnt bridge the amp for the speakers IMHO.

nevermind....found the layout in the manual. has it for 3 channels, but doesn't say how much power it'll send to each speaker, around 100 i guess.
