Can someone tell me how to remove my stock head unit. just got a new one today

 

need the tools, stick em in as far as theyll go, pull it out

din tools, or you can use small allen keys

 

Or you can take the whole bezel out and remove the radio that way.

 

Yeah you don't need the tools, just take out the 2 8mm bolts right above the AC controls and pull the entire thing out. Then just push in the 2 tabs and the radio will slide right out.

 

yeah i just took the whole thing out makes it easier

 

Metal cloths hanger. it works fine.

 

I used nails.

 

I've made my own din tools with those. Works great, just shave the burrs of steel off.

 

im sorry for cutting in but my question kinda continues after this,so after i install my new stereo what do i put in to take up the free space? like any links to something that ill need? thanks and sorry agin.

you can also cut up a coat hanger.

i just took the bezel out and pushed in the tabs.

 

would any of that adapt to a VR3 500 stereo?

you can get the adapter thing from best buy for $20.

the ones they sell on the shelf are junk, i always ask for the ones the installers use, they come in a plastic bag.

it comes with the plastic bezel part and a wiring adapter so you don't have to cut up the factory harness.

 

Whoops...responded to the jack and not the original question. I would also recomend just taking out the bezel and pushing in the tabs from the back. Also gives you more room to work...watch out for the lighter, power source, fog switch, 4X4 (if equiped) wires, they are somewhat short.

i have a spare but its cut up for an eq.

most of the trim(radio) adapter bezel's come with the wiring adapter.

ive never seen a radio that comes with a vehicle specific adapter.
