Grandpa's CB

Well my grandpa cant drive anymore due to medical reasons and he had a newer CB and antenna. The CB is a Radioshack 40 Channel, and the antenna is a radioshack one as well, but i miss placed the actual steel rod/antenna so i only have the magnetic base.

I was wondering if i grab another antenna (wanting dual 4' white firesticks one day) will it be ok with CB? Is this CB worth having? I dont want to go out and spend $100 on something I will only use every blue moon.

well i've seen people say that a firestick can make a sh!ty radio sound like it cost $1000. So when i find a place where i can get two white firesticks then I will get those.

2 antennas are hard to tune on a ranger not enough width available.
also rangers are almost a lost cause for a good cb because of
intense radiated interference.

In summary its fine for trail use or convoying..

i have that cb with a 102" whip and it works great. I have it attached to the drivers side panel on my tool box. On the highway and under perfect conditions i can pic up 4-5 miles but it is kind of weak and can only transmit about 3.

I had one of those before i got my cobra. It worked ok, like they said mostly short range. you can always get an linear or amp for it. they are not allowed here in georgia where i am. i don't know about where you are. they boost it from like 20Watts to up to like 600Watts on some.
