Question about satallite radio
Ok I have I Delphi Roady2 in the truck and there programing is really starting to suck big time. So here the question. I have Dish 500 in the house which has the Sirius music channels. If I get a Sirius radio will this be the same music as what I get on the dish 500?

Should be... If that is in fact getting the Sirius stations. My dad has Sirius, and he loves it... I listen to it online through his account. I like it for the Jam Band station. I believe they are getting me one, too. But yeah, if the dish is getting the Sirius stations, they are the same.

Can't comment on the dish vs sirius channels, but if they call themselves sirius, I'm willing to bet it's the same.
FWIW: I'm becomming less and less happy w/ Sirius. Their programming leaves a little something to be desired, especially if you are a country fan. But then I supose it depends largely on your interests. Dave (of Dave and Julie fame) is quite happy w/ his set last I heard. .. However I will not be renewing this year..

The dish sirius is the same, but you don't get all the channels with dish. You only get the first 60 some channels which are the music channels. The talk and information channels are not available.
I like sirius, sure there is room for improvement but it's really great compared to commercial radio.

Personally I can't say as I've never really done an A/B comparison. The equipment I got (for free w/ my head-unit) is for Sirius, so that's all I've ever used.
I've been told that XM normally competes better w/ the younger crowd while Sirius is favored by the adults. I qualify myself as an adult, at least for music tastes, but find Sirius lacking at times.. Again, everyone's tastes will be different here!

Thanks for the input guys. I have had my Delphi for about 6 months and I think your right about the music being more for the younger generation. With the dish I usually listen to channel 6066 most of the time. So as long as I can get that same station on the sirius I will be happy. To bad the country is going down hill as that is one of the things I like to listen to.

Some time next year I'm going to install the XM Commander kit in my Ranger. The thing even fits my interior color scheme (black and silver face, blue illumination!) I want XM over Sirius because one of my favorite radio programs, The Monsters in the Morning out of Orlando, are broadcast live on XM 152.

Their classic rock is their strength I think. They've got some cool stations like 14 & 15 (Classic vinyl and classic rewind; I'm looking at the website now!). I also get a kick out of 'Hair Nation' (23). But then I own a copy of Whitesnake's greatest hits as well, so..
The country selection is a disapointment. 31 is 'new' country, and 32 seems to be the rest of the contemporary stuff. I put 'new' in quotes because I don't think it's that new. I hear stuff on my local FM stations WELL before I hear it on Sirius. There is a bluegrass station that is kind of wild. You don't get much of that stuff on FM up this way, so it's fun to listen to now and then. Were I in charge I'd split it by sub-genre. Like rock there are types of country, not just decades when it was released. I'd try to split it so the latest Toby Keith rocker, if you follow what I mean (ie 'Whiskey Girl') would be on one station and the latest Faith Hill blabbering love bit would be on another. This way people like me can skip Faith and move right to the good stuff.. That is until they perfect the holographic head unit and I can see her perform!
Anyhow, that's my take..

Oh yeah, and a word on hardware. If you can, get one of those setups w/ the removable face that you can bring inside w/ you. That way you can register one receiver and have it everywhere, in the house, the car, maybe at work. I didn't, I used the receiver I got free packaged w/ my Kenwood head unit. As it is I can ONLY use Sirius in the truck. My commute is short, so this may contribute to why I haven't fallen for the whole satelite radio concept as hard as everyone else.
I know people w/ the removable plate jobies, they are much cooler, I would go for that if you could..

Dish adds a 60 in front of everything. So first wave on dish is 6022 and on sirius it is just 22. Otherwise they are the exact same.
I have a here 2 anywhere and listen to it in the house and garage and patio in the summer. All you have to do to fall in love with it again is listen to regular radio for a week.

My Roady2 has a built in fm modulator and I take it that this one does not?
