ive heard from some people that if i put a sub in the xtra cab of my truck that i wont even need aftermarket back speakers because i wouldnt be able to hear them anyways? is that true? what if i put in aftermarket front speakers and not back ones...but then i want to turn it way up and the back speakers cant handle it and they blow???

I have messed with my EQ and it sounds much better when you have sound from the rear speakers.

if you keep the stock speakers, will you be running them through an amp?

i have 2 12s in the back of my ranger and i had the rear speakers when i first got the subs...but now i just have the fronts i just think it sounds better...i actually have my rears disconnected and fade it a lil to the rear and i sounds perfect to me..and its loud enough for the cop sitting next to you at a light...to flash his lights and tells you to turn it down

I am also running a 12 but I had to run the fronts through the amp due to a stock deck and blew the speakers... I think it was mainly because I had the bass all the way up

I have really decent 6.5" components in the front and my stock back speakers shut off. There's one 10" in the back. IMO you don't need the back speakers, take the money you save and put it into really good front components.

I have one 10", IMO just upgrade the front speakers. If you set your EQ right the backs will make a difference but no need to spend money on them.

I use my rear speakers because my head unit has a surround sound feature that I use all the time. The rears have their role when in surround mode and I can defiantly hear them over the sub.

I have stock rear speakers run off the head unit, amped front speakers and a 10" in a custom box. Unless you use surround, the back speakers are just filler.
