Switching out the old for the new!!

Hey every one,
I have been doing a little research in getting a new head unit for my ranger. I have the old stock stereo and I been looking at putting in a new 7'' inch LCD DVD Player. How much of a pain is it to do? I don't mind doing a little modifications but if it's a lot I might change my mind.
I'd rather hear it from people that have done it then just hearing it's easy and not knowing what they are talking about.

Thanks for your time.

its easy... all you have to do is trim the top and bottom lip off where the radio slides in on the bezel. With out those lips it fits.

That sound's pretty easy. A little dremal work I can do. Do I need a in dash kit for it to sit in with or does it just slide in place of the other one?

Yea, do the dremel work, then the dash kit is basically just two side pieces that will screw into the sides of the radio, then those pieces clip into what looks like a trim ring. I think I had to dremel the sides down just a hair also. Not hard, just take your time and do lots of test fitting.

Do some research, it depends on the unit you buy. Some brands don't allow for it to be bypassed, or make it much more difficult to be. The Kenwoods all you have to do is ground out one wire. I'm sure it's the same for other brands... google it.

Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD <---- Thats the unit I was looking for for my truck. That one or the model just below it. I'll keep researching and looking around.. I just want to make sure i get all the right stuff so i dont have to spend even more money to go around things to get it to work.

I bet you fourteen dollars that's all you need to do. No need to buy anything special it's quite easy

Gotcha. lol I was just saying I did some research and I did find one. I'll probably be doing the switch and ground thing. None of that seems really hard to do. Thanks a lot guys for the help. If I have any more questions I'll know who to ask..
