Upgrading speakers....opinions please!!

Hey.

Lookin' at upgrading my system some more. Do all the speakers. Going for 6x9's. Planning on eventually amping them as well. Need something to compliment the sub.

What do ya'll think of these? (figure take advantage of 1/2 off and free shipping)(i've got a kicker amp and two subs...good products)

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-wCQFhJo...30&cc=01&wm=cl

Do i want 2way or 3way?

Thanks ya'll...i'm still kind of a noob when it comes to audio kinda. I used to know, but now i'm really rusty.

first off the holes are 6x8s, so it will take some work to get the 6x9s in.

I am running pioneer 6x8 4 ways, amped with a 4 channel amp. i like it. nice crisp clear.

btw i bought the pioneers local for 75$ not on sale, not sure those kickers are that great of a deal

When it comes to speakers I'd go pioneer also. I have 6x8 3ways all around and they sound amazing and they are the ones that walmart carries if that says anything. So I would suspect higher end pioneer would be killer.

I was looking into doing the 6x9 mod as well.. it really isnt much work, take a dremel, cut the hoel out, redrill for spec.. and maybe put one of those baffles behind it. maybe about 10-15 minutes top for each speaker.. along with a few dozen cutting wheels..

Speakers are always a tough subject imo. We all have different hearing and certain brands will appeal to us. So your best bet would be to try and demo some speakers in the stores before buying. However, Crutchfield is really awesome in their returns, they pay for it and will help you with anything you need along the way. So you could try them out! I've always liked Polks, the others above like Pioneer, and you've had experience with Kicker subs, so maybe thats your choice.

As for 2 or 3-way I'd say that depends on you too. The 3-way should have better uniformity with the added midrange driver. But i've never had experience with these in my truck so i'm not sure how much or what it adds to the image.

With any speaker you decide to buy amping them will provide a HUGE boost in quality, so i'd definatley suggest doing that as quick as possible. I'm amping my polks in the front doors and its a world of difference.

BTW use 3A825 in the coupon code box for 20 bucks off 100 at crutchfield, I think it expires the 31st. Good luck

I got my pioneer 4-ways on amazon.com for a great deal, I don't have them amped [yet], but it sounds light years different than stock. Way cleaner at higher volume

Shane, I've done the 6x9 mod in my Ranger. I've got Pioneer 3 ways amped 50w rms I think, and it sounds great. I would pick the 3 ways over the 2 ways speakers.

kicker makes great subs and amps but those speakers are not any better than the pioneer speakers....i personally like the infinity speakers and the rockford fosgate speakers. I have 4 6x8 rockfords the power series with a 70x4 amp and they are amazing.

I have the Pioneer 3-ways as well, not amped yet and they still sound amazing. You can listen it to it at full and no distortion.

I had both the pioneer 3 ways and the 4 ways w/ a kenwood amp. I was never entirely thrilled with the 4ways. So my suggestion would be 3 ways.

Personally, I'm not a big kicker fan. Take a look at the Polks. My boyfriend just installed the components in his truck and they sound fantastic! I'd highly recommend those, the MOMO components are still on sale at crutchfield.

I have pioneer 6x9 3 ways up front, Im going to probally amp them here soon. Its was easy to get them to fit in the front, just took the dremel to it. I still have the stocks in the rear, but I will probally just go with the 6x8 pioneers 3 ways.....

I've got those direct fit pioneers in the front doors.....and don't really like them anymore. lol.

I've searched all the 6x9 threads i could find, including winks how-to or info thread. I know what's involved.

Thanks for the extra coupon code. Hopefully i can find somewhere local with those speakers set up to listen to.

The 3way kickers run like $200, and the 2way run like $150.....crutchfield is running a 50% off sale on kicker component speakers........so was thinking better speaker for cheaper, know i'm sayin'.

Thanks for theinfo guys, on goes the search to hear them before i buy.

I would recommend the Infinty Kappa component speakers.

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...CS&tp=92&avf=N

You will need about a 200w 4 channel amp to run them at full potential. personally, I wouldnt even upgrade speakers unless youre gonna run an amp for them.

I have the Kappa 2 ways in all 4 doors and they are amazing. Im gonna upgrade to these 3 ways soon.

is there a noticeable difference upgrading the OEM door speakers to the Direct-fit Pioneer 3-ways and keeping the stock deck?? if not I'll just save my money...

Its noticeable! much much better than the ford junk. Its just that much better hooked to an amp. And not just so you can blast them either. The sound quality at any volume level is 100x better with an amp

My brother just got the top of the line Infinity speakers at Car Toys and they are amazing.

The clearity is amazing and the bass in unbelievable.

I highly recommend getting these speakers or at the very least going and listening to them.

ANYTHING is better then what ford puts in. Unless it is the tremor system. If is just the plain jane then junk those asap!

I've got Pioneer 3-ways all the way around with the stock stereo and they sound amazing IMO, but I rarely have my radio on or just on very quiet.I don't like it really loud. I would get the 3-ways.

What about component systems? I was thinking about upgrading to a Kicker system since I got some crazy connections with them so I can get them for dirt cheap.
