i hate when people walk over to me and say they have 2 10s, and 2 10s=20" you only have 18"s

i have a 2000 watt max power amp, it the biggest in the school

a kicker 1200.1, and some boston components, eclipse HU(cheaper one)
charged over 5k i believe he wont tell, but i know its atleast 4k+
the day he starts driving everyone comes and tells me its so loud, it crazy(no ones ever really heard my XXX yet though only a couple people i keep it a secret) i was over at a friends house and they start yelling duel, so he pulls up with a big grin on his face, ends up he gives up because he scared its gonna blow because they wouldnt get any louder, i wasnt even to my max volume i set my amp at yet, him 5k$ me 1500$

That wasn't directed at you. That was a conversation I had with a good friend. He's not smart with his money in general. and doesn't have a good sounding system.

What is heard: "I'm going for sound quality"

Now this is really funny to me. I don't know what you mean by SPL. But in my town, ' SPL ' stands for ' Safeway Parking Lot ' (Yeah I know, It's retarded) which is where the ' cool ' kids hang out with their gansta rides and shiznit. They blast their music and peel out in their Honda's with fart pipes. It's hilarious.

years ago.. rich kid pulls in parking lotbragging about how loud his setup is. The guys tell him not bad but mine is loder and sounds better. Later I pull up and the kid comes up and challenges me to a sound off{case of Beer to the winner} I LOVE BEER. I tell him sound off, not bad but not great me thinks. I turn on, he turn up the volume to the point of distortion, I up mine a notch or two. He turns off, goes buy beer.
Next weekend, I retuned his system.

 

kid: mines so loud like OMG it hurts your ears loud...

haha, that made my day...that was yesterday at don carters by the way (bowling alley I work at). Some kid with an explorer. **** doesn't flex for anything. It's loud...but not as loud as it should be. It's a sealed box and it's even firing against the seats (muffling sound) and he has 8 gauge wire to his amp. No upgraded electronics. No big 3, stock battery, the list is endless

Bottom line, he's a NEWB!!!!!!

i would have done a box that is as big as possible (properly ported though) tuned to 36hz. Had at least a 1200.1 on each (wired at 1 ohm) and possibly would have an orion 2500d. I would do a 300 amp alt with at least DUAL batt's (as a rule of thumb, one for each amp) and had at least 0 gague, if not 2/0 running everywhere. Big 3 done in 2/0 too.

That is what we call a 150+ db system right there...

hey dont be mean on power acoustic, their big one actually does some power and is pretty efficient and cheap 4000rms for around 600$ with warranty hard to beat

 

About a year ago we had the 4 channel and the one channel. They were 5000 watts each. They looked nothing like that, but I guess that is what got released to the public. Their stuff is top of the line, our Cumberland KY party has about 15,000 RMS crown power.....

The guy I was talking about ran 2 JL W6V2's off of a 300 watt 2 channel power acoustic. And "Those subs are junk"

So I asked what he wanted for them, and ended up paying 120 for the amp, 2 subs and a sealed box (probably wrong box for the drivers, but I needed to do it differently anyway, that box would take up too much space in the boat).

Other than that, I have no experience with PA.

 

i dunno about all this 2300 rms stuff cuz power acoustik over rates their amps by ALOT. If its really 2300 rms you should be paying about 2 grand for it. Like the old zapco amps that were 1000 rms still go on ebay for 700 bucks used. Dont believe everything that you read on the box...

PA does do what the guy with the blazer says...trust me, I know of a few who benched them
Orions do what they say (maybe a bit under)
MTX does what they say (benched over actually)

You are right about reading everything they say...but read this

2 PA 3000DB's = $600 with warranty = at least 2300 RMS @ 1 ohm (can run at .7 i believe)
1 Zapco = $700 without warranty USED on ebay = 1kw rms

Now buying the zapco is just bad math...especially with an MT 18 which is power hungry...comeon man.

Orion 2500D...does 2700 @ .5 ohms BENCHED...around 700 NEW w/ warranty

IA 20.1 another amp under 1k that does OVER 1kw rms
