Whats the best SQ 12in sub out there?

I'm not looking for the big SPL, but more torwards the SQ. I play alot of rock songs and no rap, so you can see where I'm coming from. I currently have a Rockford Power series 500bd amp that is powering a 200watt rf sub. I was originally going to get a Infinity Kappa Perfect DVQ sub, but there pricey. So, what else is out there?

Thanks:
Matt

i like my polk. its not a momo series and it played the clearest bass ive ever heard. i listen to country and rock. the sub was on a 400 watt phoenix gold octane r. the bass was clear and never overpowering but could hit if i wanted it to.

You are going to get a million answers on this. It is subjective. What is the best to you might suck to someone else.
That being said, my favorite for SQ goes to Adire Audio. The Shiva is very reasonably priced and sounds great, but the Bramha is the big dog. It'll give you incredible SQ and more SPL than you could ever want.
One thing most people don't think about is the amp. To truely get the best sound, you need an amp capable of a lots of clean reserve power. SQ amps compe at a premium though. For example, my preference is Zapco's C2K line. An amp that can power the Bramha to it's limit would set you back about $1600 from a dealer.
Back to your question though, Polk, Infinity, JL Audio, Phoenix Gold, Crossfire, just to name a few make great sounding subs. Listen to as many as you can before you buy anything.

I'd go with Diamond, RE, or ED. You won't get one answer for this question...it all depends on what you like. Some subs sound better playing certain kinds of music, in a certain style box.

some of those above are a lil pricey for you, if you think infinity is expensive

maybe look into an Oz audio matrix elite
Image dynamics idq http://www.cardomain.com/item/IDSID12V3D4 they are authorized and real good to deal with, thats a great sub really good sq

RE SE www.reaudio.com the sE is supposed to be a good sounding sub, if its any where close to my XXX it will be great sounding, my XXX is amazing

a soundsplinter RL-P www.soundsplinter.com
www.ascendantaudio.com
adire makes good subs but they are being prissy now and arnt putting out any subs i dont think at the moment, right in the middle of the new models coming out www.adireaudio.com
www.edesignaudio.com
there are a good bit more but might be out of ur price range, and by the way what is the most u will spend and what kind of box will it be and what is the rms on that amp at what ohms?

High-end, "best," etc don't go along with a budget system. If you want quality sound, on a budget I would suggest some Adire stuff, otherwise JL's 12w6v2 is renowned for its amazing linear abilities. Give me a few days and I will give you a better review.

The sub enclosure is 1.0 cu.

Its still being remodled.

The amp specs are:
Class bd technology
250 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

Also, would I wire this at dual 4ohms?

i would suggest an Resonant engineering SE 10 or a Image dynamics idq,
and again adire is not making subs at the moment so u can X that out unless u are getting a used one

those will prolly be your cheapest,
JL is prolly out of his price range, they are a little overpriced to me, i can get the same performance per say for almost half the price for example W7 cost a butt load an XXX or brahma is around 400$ W6 cost like 400$ an SE which is pretty close to W6 cost 185$ then the W0s compared to the RE re series, im just using resonant engineering because i know a good bit about them, but JL makes some really nice subs for sq

how about these subs for sq:

Kicker Comp CVR12 SUB 12" DUAL 4 OHM

POLK AUDIO MOMO MM2124DVC 12" DVC

Also, if I did go with the jl, which model then? Another thing, I've heard that the bd amp that I have is very underrated in the watt department.

With the bd series, will I need to get a dual 4ohms sub?

Thanks:
Matt

The MOMO sub is comparable to a JL w3..but half of the price. So that may be your best bet. If you have a bigger budget a w6v2 will ROCK your world in SPL and SQ all day long.

If you went JL and wanted to go low on cash I would get a w0 or w3. You can pick them up cheap or even go with the new 10w1v2's I got 2 of them for $100 apiece and they should sound great(cant tell ya they arent installed yet. Bux arrived today for them)

Well, I'm going to go over to Circuit City and listen to the Polk MOMO. Also, if its close to the price ranger, where would I buy the RE?

Again, with my amp that I have, would I need a dual voive coil sub with it that dual 4ohms?

You'll have to go to reaudio.com to purchase via call them. The prices change according to shipping costs, there are 4 models, i'm not sure which is at your price/power range.

Ok, went to the sound advice and listned to both the w3 jl and the PolkMOMO and there ain't to much difference to me. The JL I think did have a lower end, but both enclosure they were in weren't that good. So, more then likly, I'm going to go for the Polk MOMO for $139 over there, that includes a 3 year warranty too, which is the deciding factor of whether I was going to get the one off ebay for $116 shipped(90 day warranty).

Here aare the specs of it.
Overall Frequency Response 23-200 Hz
Nominal Impedance 4 ohms
Minimum Impedance 3.3 ohms
Power Handling (continuous) 400 w
Power Handling (peak) 800 w
Efficiency 88 dB
Voice Coil Diameter: Driver 2" (5.08cm)
Magnet Weight 60.00 oz.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only thing is that I'm worried about is the cu. in. Mine is just under 1.0 and the sub is rated for .88 recommened. So, what you guys think.

By the way, the w3 there was $229.

A RE SE for around $185 shipped, the RE warranty is great, it would kill a polk momo or JL w3, give at least 400rms and it will sound really great, and i know if in the right box it will have a lot better low end than the JL or maybe any other sub that store has, and be different, why go with something that other people around you have? i dont think no one any where near me has RE except me
