Sub makes really loud POP

Its only happened twice..one on saturday and once this morning. MY sub makes a really loud pop that actually scared the hell out of me while I was driving to work. Any idea on what that is? The sub still works fine so I dont know.

If your box is too small, and your subs hitting hard the pressure will make it hit harder, making a "popping" noise. I've done it a couple of times at Circuit City, messing around with their audio.

Was it up loud, or did you play a new song that maybe hit harder?

No Ive heard it clip before..I think thats what you are talking about. I was talking to a friend and he said a crappy connection would cause that. He said what you are hearing is an arc in the connection where it not fully connecting. All times ive heard it I wasnt even listening to music. It was talk radio and it wasnt even loud. Im bringing it in to circuit city tomorrow since thats where I got the stuff and see what they can find. Im going to leave out the fact that my cab got really really dusty once when we had that huge so cal azusa meet. Then again that was like a long time ago so I doubt it was that

Ok ive come to conclude that it indeed is a loose connector. I was driving to work today and every bump I hit it started popping so I just turned it off. I still cant explain the speakers though.

Check your ground. Make sure that you sand down to the bare metal to get a good connection. The same thing happened to me, then I sanded down where my ground wire goes, reinstalled it and I havent had the problem since.

If circuit city wont do anything then I will. My ground right now is just under that rubber/plastic liner mat we have in our trucks. Its not sanded I believe.

I know what your problem is! you let circuit city work on your stuff! Haha. Maybe you have better luck with them then I have had in the past.

My grounds run to the bolt that holds down the driver seat in the rear, works fine for me.
