where to put a sub

i have a ten inch infinity sub, and was looking at boxes online but can't find one that i want. im trying to keep as much room as possible in my backseat, so i was thinking of making a custom box to place where my jack is currently. i have an 01 ranger edge, extended cab. has anyone done this or have any other ideas?

This depends upon what size and type of box the sub needs. I had an old Infinity that needed to be refoamed, but decided against using it since it needed 1.25 cu. ft. of airspace. Let us know the model or stats of this sub and we might be able to figure something out.

sub is an infinity reference 1040w, has a mounting depth of 4 and 9/16 in, cutout diameter of 9 1/8 inch and outer diameter of 10 3/8 inches. i dont know too much about subs, so here is a link to a site with more info.

That box is sweet. How far out from the stock jump seat backrest does is sit? I want to do that, but I still have a few years of hauling growing kids around back there (they are already starting to complain about the jumpseats)

Back to the original question though, On my old 95 I built a box that ended up flushing out the dip in the extra cab, right behind the front seat to the back of the cab.

A box like Renton Ranger's might be what you need especially if you want to keep as much of the rear seat space as possible. Sealed enclosure (my choice, anyway) is .75 cubic feet interior volume and it looks like RR's box style would fit the bill nicely.

Hope that helps.

I can do a "How To", but there wont be much as far as pics go. I didn't think to take any as I was bulding it. What I can do is take the finished measurements and overlay them on the finished box. Give me a little time and I will get this done as soon as I can, then I will post it in the "How To" forum.
