What type of deck are you looking for. OEM look, Cool Look, Fancy Features, Audio Quality? can't have them all. whats the rest of your system consist of? speaks,amps... what brands do you like?
... and did you find out why the first deck blew? did the internal amp blow or did the RCA's blow or is it something else?
the kenwood KDC-X494 mentioned above is combo cool look, and good audio tweakablity. good price.

I don't know if you can scrap up enough money or find a used alpine 9887. or i found them new for $229 many places also.
it has the 4volt rcas , 5 band parametric eq 7, band graphic eq, 6-channel digital time alignment, and high- and low-pass crossovers.. 24bit Digital to analog converter. slightly more features then the kenwood 494 but worth the extra $40 if you can do it.
It looks nice and you have amazing control over your audio. Its also very easy to screw up the sound with so many options built in. I don't know if you are into audio like I am but this is probably one of the best units out for the price. Its built for the audio enthusiast. its also "Imprint" ready which is a sound processor that does all of the tuning for you.
pioneer also offers a few units with AutoEQ and 8Band EQ with 4 volt rcas and high\low pass crossovers they are the highest priced single din units available from them. but in your price range i believe. (as long as you don't buy from Crutchfield you just have to decide what one you like the looks of better..
if your not really into audio that much just look for something has the 4v rcas and high power internal amp. with the looks you want. there is tons of those units avail. just pick one.
