My first attempt at wheel polishing

Most know I need a set of wheels for my 99 and have been looking for a good deal. I had an extra set of these setting around so I thought I would experiment. I took the worst wheel and stripped the clear and went at it. I am still not sure I want to use these though, may be for sale soon...

Probably about 2 hrs. It takes a long time to get the clear off.

I just used spray on stripper from wally world, I think its kleen strip brand in an orange can.

Correction, it was bix stripper I used. Yeah it actually looks better out in the sun but I figured I'd get glare on the picture. I still have the other three to do but probably not today.

are you going to re clear the rims now?
if you don't they are going to corrode.

looks good though.

Looks good, you can buy clear coat specifically made for rims in a spray can at auto zone, etc. Its a special blend that is suppost to turn much harder than normal clear.

Yeah I agree. Looks pretty good. I'd slap some clear coat on them pretty quick.

Yeah after days off work I have them all polished, I am going to use them on my 94. I am going to clear them but now I have to do some work in all the little windows first. The stripper messed up the gray inside of them. Not sure how picky I am going to be with them I already have alot of time into them.
