is there any product to get those fine little pits out of the winshield?? i have heard like toothpaist and a toothbrush and scrub it to kinda sand it out a little?
i dont have full coverage for insurance to replace for free cause its to $$$ for me right know beeing a teen and its really bad driving into the sun thats all i see are the littel pit stress marks.

Eastwood sells kits for refinishing windshield glass. It is messy and labor intensive but it does work - eventually.

lol that doesn't sound very promising.

if it effects your driving and sight sometimes it can warrant a replacement with your insurance just pay the deductible.

i know when i priced one it was just under 300 installed. my deductible is 250 so in my case i might as well just pay for it myself.

 

ummm, I understand that you cann't get full coverage, but you may have free windshield replacement.... I know I do with State farm... it only cost like $10 every 6 months... Normaly they will only replace it if the windshield is broke though... But you may want to check out with your insurance first... maybe get the glass coverage.

maybe take it to a auto glass shop that replaces windsheilds and stuff and see if they can fix it for you. I had a crack in my windshield about an inch long, and took it to a glass shop, and they fixed the crack for 40 bucks....only visible if you look real close in the right light.

 

mine is less then a year old and its ppg glass.
it allready has pitting on the outside, one of these days im going to stop by the glass shop and ask about it.

 

idk anythign about glass.. but i have 2 freeway rock dings in my glass.. and i was at pepboys today and they had this thing. looked like a syringewith a suction cup at the end . and it some how fixed little cracks and such.. only 8 bucks... i figure whynot try that b4 you spend 50+

 

Cracks are one thing. Some small cracks can be easily fixed, but he's talking about the "sandblasting" pits you get from road debri. Once those pits get in the laminate, it's impossible to get them out. I usually just wait until a rock hits it then get the insurance company to replace it.

 

Theres not alot you can do about pits. Glass is not easy to polish. (in fact its almost impossible) You would first have to sand the pits out, then polish out the sanding marks. and even then you might not get all of them or you might end up with streaks that dont come off. I had a windsheild replaced in my old car for under 200 bucks. You might call around a few windsheild places and get some quotes on how much it might be. Try to keep it local. Large chains like Novus will likely charge ALOT more than a local place.
