painting my steelies

what exactly do i have to do? use wire brush and sand paper to remove rust. do i need a primer? or can i just use the rustoulem paint. or do i need to primer then paint? i cant really take the tires off the truck so ill have to use maskin tape and paint carfully. i not this will take a few hours to dry. so should i have one day in rust removal then wash and apply primer( if needed)one day. let then wash and paint another. or can i primer then paint like an hour later. i dont have like 4 hours to primer and dry then paint and let dry for another 4 hours. or can i just prep and paint not primer. oh any color ideas. right now they are like battle ship gray and rust color lol. i was thinking a metallic blue or chrome

Clean, brush, sand, clean, primer, sand, clean, paint.

you can do it all in one day if you have time for the primer to dry enough to sand, but it may be better to wait a day before sanding and doing the final painting.
if you have rust you definitely need to put down some primer before you paint.
don't forget putting a clear coat on is a really good option if you want extra protection or a nice gloss finish.

Prep is everything when painting. If you prepare the surface properly your paint should come out fine, if you dont it will look like crap and wont last.

You're really overthinking it dude. Honestly, just sand it down a little and paint it. Need to mask off the tires? No. Just be cautious. I don't mask my tires off and I get paint maybe a half inch onto the tire, which will wear off when I scrub em. Nbd. Especially since it's just black paint. Unless you're using a different color, then go ahead and mask em off.

Take the tires off the rims and send them to the local power coating company… lol.

Like stated above wire brush, sand a little to clean it up prime it and paint it.

But mask off the tires.
