well i took off my bug deflector cause one of the mounting brackets was broke and underneath it had rubbed the paint off what is the best way to get this back to normal or as close to it with out painting it.

 

I think you went through the clear coat. You may be better off just leaving it alone. Seriously.

 

Agreed - if anything, bring it to a shop to get a new clear coat put on.... Nothing we sell will fix your problem.

Anybody know why that happened? When my dad bought a ram 1500 last summer it had a broken bug shield and the guy we got it from had a new one paid for and installation paid for it aswell at a truck place near by. He said to have it done there because they gurantee no paint damage. We never got it done because my dad sold the truck about a month later. Just curious as to how that happened?

 

do to wind speed the deflector likes to fold back and vibrate on the paint ALOT of companies provide silicone bumpers you stick to the hood with double sided 3M tape which when your done with the deflector you remove the bumpers and the hood is fine. alot of cheap companies don't provide those

 

mine had some little rubber things stuck to the hood under the deflector but all but 2 came off so it rubbed the paint off and the fact that one of the brackets was broke didnt help

 

If I were you I would go buy a new bug deflector and put it on. Hide the spots

 

im going to try and epoxy the old mount back on, but if that doesnt work what is a good brand that makes a low-profile deflector
