03, 2.3 Misfire
#1
03, 2.3 Misfire
2003 2.3 Auto, regcab, 158K Miles. CEL-Misfire on Cyl 1, 4
P0300, P0301, P0304(random, Cyl1, Cyl4 misfire)
So it goes a little like this, Engine is very low on power. New plugs, wires and coil. Cyl 2 and 3 are firing hot. 4 is very weak, and 1 is dead. how I checked fire, I pulled the plug wires off coil, 2 and 3 are jumping the air gap, and i'm getting that crack noise of it doing so. pulling 4 makes the engine almost die, but will not jump air gap, must be all the way on it. and no difference when I pull #1. It did this with the old coil, ran great for about 3 miles on new coil, swapped out for my rangers coil, same and new coil works great on mine. I had to replace the CHTS on mine awhile back, and will be my first attempt at this one, but I got a code for mine, and this one is not giving me that, just Misfire codes. I need fresh idea's on what to attack first. This is for all RPM's and takes a few attempts to start it. The starting problem has been around for awhile. Crank for a few seconds, stop and try again. (probably fuel pressure) No smoke from tail pipe.
