Hey everyone I'm a first time poster here and just hope to have a few questions answered to keep a friend on the road. I have a buddy that has a coolant leak and it appears to be the water pump. I was wondering if anyone has some tips on replacement. I was wondering if the front cover needs to come off or if we can just take off the pump itself. From a quick look under the hood it was hard to tell. Also it seams there is the pump and also a housing that the lower hose attaches to. Maybe it is housing that is causing the issue. Any info would be helpful and I would really appreciate it.

I have a 01 with a 2.3 dohc and have replaced the water pump.Drain the antifreeze and take the bottom hose off.Then water pump bolts in to a housing and is pretty easy to change. My pump was leaking from the small vent hole in the water pump. Take the bolts out of hub that holds the pulley on before you take the fan belt off it helps hold the pulley while you break the bolts loose and then take the bolts out of the pump and pull the pump out. hope this helps.
