Does anyone know where I a can get a test pipe for my 08?

 

A pipe to replace your last catalytic converter? No where. Ranger's just don't have the aftermarket that tuner cars and diesel trucks do.

If you want one, you'll have to make it yourself or see if a shop will do it.

 

Because I live in texas no I have gone to just about every muffler shop and they won't make me one. If someone was able to get one I pay them for it. I use to have a mazda 3 that had the same motor as ours and I bought the ranger because I love the duratec motor. My plan is to later add a turbo and make this truck a bad *** sleeper, but anyways if someone was able to get one made out of state I would pay them a little more than what the shop charge and for shipping.

I have tried several in my area and do to texas law no one wants to be held responsible.

 

The stock cat flows more then enough.

uhhh no! Why the hell would I bang the **** out of a fairly new cat I only have 9k on the truck plus what happens when it is time to go get it inspected. All I need is a bolt on test pipe period.

 

Just leave the cat on. There is nothing wrong with the factory cat. If anything you will lose performance by deleting it.

 

I guess you right. Do you know if a magnaflow cat would flow better. The reason I ask is because a lot of newer cars already have high flow cats for better fuel economy.

 

Our cats are high flow, they flow more then the motor can put out as long as they are clean and yours being new it should be. If anything is hurting the flow its the mbig stock muffler/

 

I have a flowmaster 40 series dumped. I kind of figured that it was already a high flow cat cause when I drop it into 2nd gear it sounds like it is flowing pretty smoothly. Also it pops and crakles sometimes when I down shift, it all ready sounds good especially now that I have added the K&N filter.

 

Only thing a cat delete will do is make you have a CEL and make your exhaust louder. I like how you want to do a test pipe instead of cut your cat out for good. If you can find a wrecked ranger with the stock header back pipe just get it and but the cat off and add a piece of pipe to make it the same length. Thats how I would make one.

 

ya definitely I thought about going to a junk here and seeing if they have one.

 

haha punch the cats and gut em.. or your gonna have to just go in and have the pipe and flange made and then put it on yourself.

 

I went under the truck this morning and noticed that their are two cats on my 08, their is a primer and then the actual cat. I think I am going to go to a muffler shop and just get the two cats removed and have them weld in a single magnaflow cat. This way I won't have to worry.

 

Why? The stock cats flow enough you won't notice a difference at all.

 

Most places wont go 2 to 1.. They will replace number of cats that was there..

If you want performance then go headers with a header back exhaust with the magnaflow high flow cats on it.. ask Zeabard about his exhaust.. its my dream exhaust.

 

Stop and think for a second. Truck 4 banger with a crappy stock flowing head. You will not make any power with a test pipe. As a matter of fact you will probably lose low end torque. I could only see the need for a test pipe on a fully built motor or a turbo setup.

I think ill look for headers. I plan to build up the motor with performance parts from cosworth.
