Hi. I have a parasitic power steering fluid leak in a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT. I do believe I have tracked down the culprit. It looks to be a power steering pressure sensor. I am great with mechanical work, (BMW STEP Grad) but I was seeing if you guys had any advice on removing this part. It looks like, that where the wires go into the sensor, there is a blue colored boot. It seems as though this boot is causing fluid to leak out the lower side over the top. Will I need to replace this, or could I just try to push the boot back in there? It looks like online, the new sensors come without those boots. I have attached some photos.
The boot somewhat off of the sensor. This is a view through the fender well.
Up-down view of the sensor. I think this is the leak. Cant find fluid coming from anywhere else on the whole truck. Also, the power steering fluid seemed black inside the pump. I am not sure why or what could have caused it.
-Thanks for any help.
