2.3l Exhausts?

I've been trying to find the best exhaust for my 2.3l but they all sound like ricers...and i know i know its a 2.3l but is there any exhaust out there for a 2.3l they will make it sound a little more beefy or throaty? I've also hear of unbolting in the exhaust right after the cat converter. i tried it and actually sounds decent for being free but give me some ideas and stuff please or pictures if you have custom work done

Use a 2" inlet/outlet Magnaflow SS muffler in place of the stock can. Will sound slightly deeper and not ricey. Don't remember the exact model number. I climbed under there and measured, then ordered one the same length. Saw the old muffler out right against the body and the new muffler will poop right in place. I clamped it originally but had a welder at work run a bead around each end a week later

It did not hurt the torque at all on my 06 Ranger. If anything it helped it. I think the most important thing with a 2.3l is to keep the stock size pipe.

I used this muffler here. The way I mounted it is used the factory hangar welded to the top front edge of the muffler. The muffler is turned on it's side with the bottom offset for the inlet and the top offset for the outlet. It gives you 3" on each end to slide the factory exhaust pipe in and weld up. Fits like the factory muffler. I retained all the factory piping including the tailpipe. Magnaflow 11264 Performance Muffler Oval 4x9x18 Offset Offset 2 2 Auth Dealer | eBay

It is mounted just like it shows in the picture of the add with the right hand side being the inlet, left being the outlet.

how do you think it will sound with a side dump? i hate the tale pipe that goes all the way through the bottom of the truck i think it takes away some ground clearance. but it seems like a good setup especially for a 2.3l

Don't really know. If I was not going to use the tailpipe I would just add a several inch long piece and turn it straight down under the truck. If you don't like it add the tailpipe back.

I was thinking the same thing but it would sound like a ****** Jeep... Gibson showes a single to duel exhaust either out the right side behide the wheel or out the back that fits all engines....Its 300 dollars!!!! Can I take off the pipe past the converter and toss on a high performance muffler and turn it out before the right rear wheel?. I seen Walker has a oem pipe that I could cut down and splice in a muffler and side pipe somehow after the cat. So many 4.0 on You Tube but not many 2.3 with exhaust sytems videos...

When Ford came out with the 1997 F150 pick up truck they had a factory side exit exhaust. It exited in front of the passenger rear wheel. They very soon discontinued that style for a behind the wheel exit. The fumes and moisture from the exhaust caused premature failure on that brake. Probably no big deal if that is what you want. I prefer the sound of a Magnaflow over any other muffler I have heard but that is my personal taste. I have had the catback on a 2000 F150, the SS muffler installed on another truck, plus my Ranger and my Subaru Brat. I find them deeper sounding without a metallic or obnoxious sound to me.
