2000 V6 3.0 Auto ranger... code p0708 has me stumped

Hi,
I recently picked up a 2000 ranger w/ tranny issues dirt cheap... I had a feeling fuse 13 was going to be blown when I bought it and sure enough it was... popped a new 15amp mini fuse in and tranny works again... well for a bit

Upon driving, O/D light will flash and CEL will eventually pop up, giving me the one and only code of P0708-TRANS RANGE SENSOR every time, fuse does not ever blow again.

Issues:
Tranny will take a few seconds to catch up before it catches first, then will shift hard into 2nd... Assuming the tranny is in limp mode cause of the code...

I've checked all connectors, cleaned and sprayed, traced wires, found no splits/shorts. COnnected a multimeter to the fuse 13 and unplugged each of the connectors on fuse 13's circuit and noticed no voltage flux/drop...

What do I do? Just buy a new trans range sensor and hope for the best? I knwo these trucks are prone to trans issues/shorts in electrical circuit going to fuse 13 under-hood. Anyone else ever experience just this code... and what was the fix

help would be much appreciated, truck is awesome otherwise!
