Trans trouble. How long?

I've got a 2000 4x4 manual trans. shes got about 220,000mi. I've been hearing a whine and i know its the trans, i'm in the middle of replacing my transfer case so i know its a trans problem. It didnt have any problem going in or out of gears and hasnt made any grinding noise. I just changed the fluid and there wasnt any chunks of metal. I was wondering how long do i have before she goes??? its just a whine, and there in a tiny bit of end play in the out put shaft of the trans.

If its only a whine and the trans is still functioning fine you should be good for a little while yet. The whine usually indicates a bearing going bad or that has been scored.
