Transmission Slips

1990 Ranger 2.3 Automatic transmission, Been jerking for about a month now, Today it decided to slip, just so happens i was 20 miles from home so I drove it home. Oil pressure gauge shows no Pressure, I checked the transmission oil an it shows its over filled. Would that cause the transmission to slip? thanks.

Oil pressure gauge has nothing to do with the trans oil, In any event, I would not have drove it 20 miles with the oil gauge at zero. You should check your oil sending sensor to see if that's why your gauge is at zero, or your motor is toast. I would think that over filling your trans would have a whole host of problems, but I am sure others will be along shortly to help out.

When was the last time you had a fluid change in that trans?

The last time I changed the Transmission fluid was probably 4 years ago. Im thinking it might also be a clogged filter, does a gen2 have a filter in the transmission?
