settle a Discussion
Me and a friend of mine were having a discussion, and he thinks he knows everything there is to know about vehicles, He wants to drop a 302 out of a 94 Mustang in his 2004 Ranger Edge, He thinks the motor will just drop in plug everything in, start it and go. Can you guys help me settle this discussion by saying what needs to be done before he can start it and drive. Thanks

Hrrrmmmm, I was talking to a guy on the internet the other night, who has done many engine swaps. A couple rangers, and a few Cougar/Tbirds. He knows alot of crazy stuff that the normal person wouldn't care to know or remember, and I value his knowledge. He said he was researching swapping a 5.0 into a ranger, and said he found (on the internet mind you) that the 2000 Rangers share the same front end of the harness as the explorer's. He said it almost makes the swap plug and play. We didn't discuss this any farther than that because thats not a concern of mine. I can get the information he found about this though if needed.
I would assume though, that the Ranger would have to start with the 4.0 maybe for the wireing to be the "same". Obviously I would think some wiring changes would need to be made though, but hopefully not too many.

Yah, I knew it wasn't plug and play, and there are many different interpretations of what one person deems something "plug and play". Ill get ahold of the guy and see if he can track down the information he found again.
Hell for my sake, I call the 2.3T swap into a ranger "plug and play" when its quite a bit more work. But since the Ranger already came with the Lima 2.3, and most the wireing is the same, its "plug and play", know what I mean? Could be the same interpretation since the explorer and ranger shared the same platform, which is one reason 5.0's using explorer parts swap in so easy.
