4R44E "slipping" from 4-OD

Ive got a 2000 with a 3.0. I've only had the truck a month, but the tranny has recently started acting up. It shifts fine hot or cold through all gears except overdrive. It will slip or flare until I back off the gas. It usually will drop into OD then, but sometimes it still acts up. Once it's in OD it dosn't have any issues. However, if I let off the gas and then ease back into the gas, it feels like it's slipping or possibly stuck in 4th until I Rev it a little and then ease off again to get it back into OD.

I know the transmission needs to be flushed, but would this cause a problem only with overdrive? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :-)

PS. The transmission fluid looks like it hasn't been changed in several years. The truck has 149000 on it, but appears it was well kept. I don't know the previous owner, so I can't speak for the scheduled maintenance.

This actually sounds normal to me. My old truck with the 3.0 did that since I bought it with 50k miles till I wrecked it at 114k

I had a 99 with the 4 banger. The transmission was the same 4r44e that's in the 3.0. My 99 never acted like this though. I drove it again this morning and found that when it's "slipping" in OD, if I turn off OD it downshifts to 4th with no problem. I originally thought it was stuck in 4th, but it must be somewhere between when it slips. Any other insight? Thanks! :-)

Mine used to shudder coming out of overdrive fresh fluid and clean filter cleared it right up. However if the fluid is old and it smells burnt DO NOT flush it the problem will get worse after that.
