4wd problems

ik.. anotherrrr 4wd thread. but i need an ansnwer and i need it quick. were gettin pounded with snow and i got no four wheel. well it comes and goes. i put the break and clutch in and switch it it sounds like it goes in and some times it does. the driveshaft always locks in when the light illuminates. but still no four wheel drive? 4 lo is a no go either. if you have it in in 4hi and you are goin like 50 and start decellerating it feels like the drive shaft attempts to skip. it bucks to all hell. if its in 4hi theres no buckin on full lock either. only veryyyyyyyyyyyy rarely. idk guys it makes no sense to me. its a 98 3.0 with the **** shift auto hubs. pozzy in the rearend also.

are thses electronic or vaccum?
thanks guys any input or thread links are greatly appreciatede

I hated the auto hubs on my old ranger. always had problems with them. I use to beat mine with a hammer amongst other random things to get them to engage.. I believe they are vacuum.
