Binding U-Joint

Rear u joint is binding. ill be crusing and get a moderate thump in the shaft even got a loud bang last night. pulled over and put it in neutral and checked the play in the joint it wiggled quite a bit.

Is a autozone 9.99 joint just complete trash or what

U joints are typically very cheap anyways.

Hey guys, Just knew to the forum and I'm trying to diagnose a weird jump my 06 FX4 Level 2 has when I'm cruising at constant speeds, it's a five speed... Anyway, sorry to hi-jack the thread but I was wondering how much play if any the u-joint should have in it...

Thanks,

Steve

No, there should be no play in them. Maybe OEM joints are really good or Ive just been lucky. mine are 11 years old and still have no play in them.

There should be no play at all. OEM joints typically last 10 years. Just get aftermarkets with some grease fittings. should be about $11 a piece.
