Installing a transmission temperature gauge in a 2011

I searched the threads and found a few good ideas for where to put my new tranny temp gauge. The biggest problem im having is where to put my sesnor. Its a fairly big one so it goes pretty deep and im worried I might get it caught in something if I just put it in a random spot in my tranny.
My other idea was to put it in-line where my hoses attach into the radiator... if that makes sense. But in the kit I got with the gauge, it came witha few different fittings... none of which work. Iv since figured out its a metric truck (duh) and I basically have to fabricate my own fittings. Im prety handy with a lathe. Is there a better way?
