My Problem Here.

First lets get this out of the way, I'm retarded.

I made a mistake and thought I had 3.73's but I guess i have 4.10's.

long time ago i checked the code, i must of read the chart wrong, i never looked at the tag for the axle.

well now then.

i have my 8.8 under my truck, but with 3.73's and i have 4.10's in front.

i just have the hubs unlocked. so i'm in "2wd"

Can i take any 8.8 ring and pinion and swap out my 3.73's( i have a limited slip and 3.73's now)

or do i need to swap the carrier as well?

Arg id like to get gears soon as I can.

Can I swap any 4.10 gears into my 8.8 with limited slip? Or is something else needed?

mmk, because a guy at the shop (small town) said he might have a couple 8.8's out at his house.

if thats the case he said pretty much do just labor on it and call it good.

i'd just like to get a definite answer before the truck is at the shop, then I'd need more parts and have to wait a few days to get them in.

That sucks majorly. Yeah the gears swap right out, obviously have the carrier bearings and the pinion bearing done at the same time. Since you will have it apart I would suggest a locker upgrade as well.

Hmmm, yes I believe you would need to start with an open. Or remove the trac-loc.

i've had open diffs front and rear for years now, having the l/s in the rear is still a big step up already, i was planning on adding a locker to the front, since i can unlock my hubs for turning, but i need to swap transfer cases first.

lunchbox locker fits inside an open carrier. replaces the gears inside. a full mechanical locker should replace the whole carrier
