91 ranger tranny problem

I have a 91 ranger 2.3 2 wheel drive. I bought it from a elderly man only has 70,000
Miles. But it has been sitting for almost 2 years in a garage here in North Florida. I got it up and running only problem is I let the clutch out and it barely moves like the clutch is bad. Fluid is full I do not hear any noises. The gentlmen told me it was working fine when he parked it.I know I should replace the fluid because it's been sitting but my question is could the fluid cause this problem. Doesn't sound like much fun dropping the transmission so i thought i would get some advice first.thanks

If clutch pedal "feels" OK, i.e. not stopping half way down, then you need a new clutch disc.

The clutch system(disc, pressure plate and flywheel) is by default engaged, the clutch pedal system is built to disengage the clutch disc(transmission) from the flywheel(engine).

A problem disengaging the engine from the transmission, i.e. hard to get into 1st when not moving or just hard shift to any gear while moving, would mean a problem with pedal system, master/slave or air in system.

A problem engaging would be in the clutch system, disc, pressure plate or flywheel
