once again. i don't know what i would do with out these forums! i have been looking for a straight up answer on the 5r44e transmission. The transmission in my 09 ranger went out. i started to look for parts and a rebuild manual. well the kit i ordered said it was for the 5r44e/5r55e transmissions. i dint think much on it at the time. the book i ordered said the same. well the book has just arrived and on the cover it says 5r55e. now from what i understand is that the 5r44e is just a slightly diffrent from the 5r55e. i keep looking and thats the only answer i can get. all i want to know is will the newly arrived 5r55e rebuild book help me on the rebuild for my 5r44e. i just dont want to get half way through and be standing there with extra parts lmao

i ruined the warranty along time ago. my trucks first oil change was under warranty work. got to my house and for some reason i looked at my temp gauge. i was running a little hot so i was gonna check and see how much oil was in the truck. pulled the stick out and to my surprise, no oil! was gonna check the filter but as i kneeled down to look under the truck i noticed oil splattered and dripping from the pan all the way to the back. looked at my filter. went to grab it and it just fell off in my hand. to make things worse it was my old filter. still had all the mud caked on it. So i gave the dealership a call. a week later i got a an apology letter with a check in the mail amounting to all the money spent on the "warranties". i never have trusted someone else with my vehicle mainly because i know how i drive. when i take my truck apart i know whats missing. sorta like opening a file. once you open it, it begins to tell a story of the driver and what type of places and activity that particular vehicle has been through. i figured i could trust the dealership mechanics not to make a mistake that simple. that's worse than forgetting to make sure the old oil filter gasket comes off. now I am not saying all mechanics are like that. i do know a few good guys but once again if someone else does your work then you will never truly know your vehicles limitations and what you can do to improve it. just a personal thing i guess.
