1995 3.0L Ranger Trans in 1997 2.3L Ranger 2WD

Hey guys

First post - i really appreciate any insight.

I have a 1997 Ranger 2.3L 4cyl engine

The transmission just flunked out and im wondering if the one from my spare 1995 3.0L will work.

They're both RWD

I'm not 100% sure because I don't know if they changed over the years, but if they're both M50D-R1's, I would think that they would be interchangeable.
