manual trans...

OK so i have swapped out my automatic transmission, for the manual drives and runs perfect... But my truck does not go into 4lo so i have the motor on the transfer case off at the moment as a quick fix...

now i have been to the JY twice in the last month actually was there today...
i cannot for the life of me find a transfer case out of a 93-95 explorer or ranger...

but i have found transfer cases out of the older models all day long i think i have actually counted 6 not touched by and dirty little hands... and i found 2 out of the older bronco 2's... do i need to get it out of a 3.0 or will any work? and yes i have the tail housing ready to accept the linkage i checked...

so i have used the search button a bit and know the older ones are weaker and you need more parts like the drive shaft, any thing else? would the one out a bronco2 be a better option? or even work... so i just walked around today asked the guy at the desk what a transfer case would run he said about $150.. is it a good deal, he also said about $50-$60 for a front drive shaft...

you a 1354 tcase out of 90 a plus rangers and explorers if would recommend getting a manual one and just doing that swap if your getting a new tcase i did the swap and will never go back to an electric one and i have have a problem with 4wd anymore like you i got tired of crawling under my truck every time i wanted to get into 4wd. if you find the tag on he back of the tcase you will find what model it is just read it. it will say 1354 or 1350 and you want the 1354

The 1354 has stronger internals, you'll be fine with either, the 3.0 isn't that powerful of a motor to destroy it.

you will need different drive shafts it you use a 1350 tcase because the out put are different you will need the shifter and case for a manual one. i would recommend a 1354 you would have to worry about breaking it

if hes going to the junk yard why not just go and get the best of your guna go lay in the **** to get it out lets get the right one so that if it does break you dont have to go lay in the **** to take another one out at a junk yard. its call preventative maintenance

so if you have a choice over a 1350 or a 1354 at a junk yard got the 1354 do the smart thing.
