since i found that my right hub does not hold vacuum i decided to get these but i have a few questions before i get these hubs.

1. i have a 99. will i need some type of "kit" aside from the hubs themselves or just the hubs?

2. If my hubs do not hold vacuum, will these work and fix the problem?

3. What should i do with the vacuum components? (hoses, etc.)

4. is this website good with shipping and stuff? i don't want to order and not receive them for a long time, snow is right around the corner.

1) just two hubs all you need..

2) you do not use any of the vacuum lines at all thus the point of it being manual..

3) shorten them and cap them off

4) that website is just fine..

5) you need open center caps. do you have stock or after market wheels?

 

1) Just buy a set from Tellico4x4. That's all you need and it's a 15 minute install per wheel (including time to jack it up and take the wheel off and on).

2) Yes, these will fix your problem. Same thing happened on my 99 and these worked like a charm. I did have to seat them twice before they worked perfect. But never had a problem after that so I figured it was just my fault.

3) I didn't do anything. Just took my old hubs off and put the AVM hubs on.

4) That's where I ordered mine from.

5) Probably not, as you need to be able to turn the hub to locked when you want 4x4.

 

i do not recommend that being other things are using the vacuum canister like say your HVAC for one you might have been fine but still not proper way of doing things..

 

i have stock 16 inch wheels. will the covers still not fit with the hubs on?

 

yea, you need to cap off the old lines, for one the t-case wont stay locked in low and it can mess with you AC blend door bs.

 

He is right. I was lazy during my install and didn't cap anything off and now it wont switch over to 4x4 low. Other than that they work awesome!

 

I just popped on my AVM's, I haven't touched the rest of the system and it has worked fine for over a year. As far as I can tell, they seal, but I've been meaning to cap off the hoses I just haven't got around to it.

side note: I've also had a check engine light lending itself to a vacuum leak but that started way before I replaced the hubs. (P0171 and P0174 if anyone wants to know, it's System too lean Bank 1 and System too lean Bank 2 respectively)

 

yea 4low is pretty important to me..

i had an issue with my t-case not staying in 4-low for more than a minute or so before I swapped the hubs, ever since then its never came out on its own.

 

you dont even need to remove the wheel, mark the front center caps in the center and drill them out with a hole saw so you can turn the hubs manually

and why not grease them? on the "how-to" it says to grease them up. has greasing them caused problems?

 

you can over grease allowing problems in engaging samething with 84-97 manual hubs...

This link says the manual hubs can be used on '01 models. Is that kinda a typo?

 

Yeah. The last year for actual hubs on a Ranger is 2000.

 

and not even all 2000's will work.

 

sorry for thread hacking, but being on the subject of hubs, are the 98-2000 wheel bearings one piece like the 01+ and how hard is it to convert an 03 to manual hubs?

 

Umm how the hell are we supposed to just magically know to "cap" off the vac lines, i have never heard of that before in this thread....How do you "cap" them off, seeing as you dont even mess with them when putting AVM's on?? Got any pictures

^ correct ... it isnt hard to cap off a vac line look around your engine bay there should be a few caped off ports as it is... thing about it you have a vac line that was connected to something now it isnt what would you do?

Yes its was hard to grasp, simply because i hadnt heard that before, and the directions give nothing to the concept...so

 

well being there from Argentina things prob got lost in translation.. and Vacuum leaks on a motor isnt a smart thing... if your working on vehicles it would be a good idea to learn things like this...go pull off a vacuum line and see how much the motor likes it...

how are you supposed to know.. well either a common understanding of how vehicles work, or PVH work... btw its Pulse Vacuum Hubs... so the tip off is it uses Vacuum to engage the hubs. being now you have manual hubs and nothing to hold a Vacuum that would be your tip off that you would have to do something...


there is a thing called Asking in a manor that doesnt involve attitude...

 

two things.. one usually Bank lean codes specify to bad O2 sensors when was the last time they where checked or replaced? both those codes can also be Dirty MAF and or fuel filter

next just because you think everything is ok doesnt mean you arnt pulling a vacuum leak.. they are small hoses but a vacuum leak is still a vacuum leak...


how to convert.. simple...

you need 98-99 Wheel bearings and CV shafts run you about $400-$600 depending on prices... then the AVM's i figured out the prices a while ago search and you will find the answers...

 

oh well i curse a lot, i didnt mean to sound that way, its hard to sound how you talk typing..you dig....Anyways, ill leave cursing to anger on here..I gotcha now, i just never gave any though to it....Like i said, any pics of this perhaps
