The only time I have ever heard of something remotely similar is when axle tube (that was shortened) had warped. My best guess is that the bearing didn't seat in the tube. Do you have the original? If you do, you could compare the two using a micrometer (compare inner and outer races). Also, measure the tube race and the bearing for clearance. You probably shouldn't have any (or clearance should be indicated as a negative). Hopefully, they just gave you the wrong bearing. What I have learned is that any glue/paint sniffing moron can work in auto parts store. Therefore, when dealing with people whose mother's should have probably terminated their pregnancies, always.....always.. check their work. I've been where you are at (in the dark with a river of rain water underneath my creeper trying to install parts that weren't made for the car they were supposed to go on. Then, when I followed up with the shop, (because they insisted that they had sold me the correct part), I was forced to take the old part down w/me and show them. They still wouldn't admit it (that they ****ed up), but did give me the correct part. Hope it all works out. My advice is to find a reputable shop w/ guys that know their sh%t (even if you have to drive to it), befriend em' and build a rapport. This way, if you ever need anything major (short block, trans case or a whole trans, or even the little PITA parts that cost $$$) you can go to em and they'll sell ya what ya need at jobber prices (can't beat that). faulty installation.

theres a shoulder in the tube that the bearing rests against. my guess is that you did not drive it in all the way.
