2001 clutch

Hello, Im pretty new here. I have a 01 Ford ranger 4.0 4x4 with the 4 doors.
My truck has 36000 mile on it. Question is, when I let off the clutch and the pedal is just about all the way out I get a squeal. It doesnt seem to slip. Any ideas? I was thinking the pilot bearing. Also where the cheapest place to get a centerforce. Thank you

mine started doing that a few weeks back too... i pretty much eliminated the slave as the problem and was guessing something along those lines... one of the site vendors should be able to get you a centerforce clutch

My guess would be your slave cylinder is going out. Many people that have manuals on this site have had the same problem.

Ranger clutches can squawk sometimes, especially when launching aggressively or uphill or with a trailer. Mine does. Ford has issued several TSBs about this through the years.

I couldn't find the text from the 4.0L SOHC TSB but here is a similar quote for the 4.0L OHV:

A "squawking/eeking" noise may be heard from the clutch on acceleration from a stop or when under load in first gear on some vehicles. This may be caused by the 4.0L OHV engine allowing the clutch pressure plate to go into resonance when the clutch becomes 90% engaged. The clutch may be noisy, but function and life are not affected.

Thanks a bunch, sounds like the squeal really wont hurt anything. or at least it doesnt sound really serious. Thats a relief cause I live in an apartment with no friends and no garage, lol
