Icon4 four wheel conversion

i just bought a 1997 ranger and im converting it to four wheel drive, will the i-beams off of a 1991 ranger bolt up or will i have to swap th crossmember four the motor and use those brackets?

you will need to swap the entire 4x4 engine crossmember into the truck for the 4x4 beams to actually bolt up.

It might be easier to do a SAS.

I'd SAS it. Since your 1997 is coils anyway and has a steering box, it's a little bit easier. I'm just finishing off my 4x4 conversion an my 2002 4x2 Edge by SAS'ing it and it's a lot of trouble on the later trucks -- not that a SAS or conversion is ever trivial, lol.

easier to put a solid front axle underneith it.....

yea i was looking at a dana 44 straight axle out of a 70 bronco would that do alright or is there a better way

the only problem with the early Bronco Dana 44's is they are low pinion axle.....anything over about 8" of lift on a Ranger will put bad pinion angles on the driveshaft......

i would get a late '70s F-150 Dana 44 and have it cut down 5.5" off the passanger side to match the track width of a Ranger......
