2006 Ranger 4x4 Supercab with slip yoke clunk issue

Before reading this forum, I had brought my '06 Ranger into the dealership to correct the drivetrain clunk that I have been experiencing upon acceleration. They told me that what I was experiencing was completely normal and there wasn't anything they could do about it. They said the took out the driveshaft and greased it, but I found no change when I got it back. Now I am reading all the posts in this forum regarding slip yoke lubrication and found several TSBs regarding this issue. I can only find a TSB that applies to 98-05 Rangers, not 06. I called the dealership this morning that I had went to and explained that the issue had not been fixed and that I have found a TSB regarding this issue. The service guy told me that this does not apply to my vehicle because it is an 06 and the driveshaft is completely different from an 05. At that point I asked him what the part # was for an 05 driveshaft. He told me that technically weren't open so he couldn't give me the part number and I would have to call back on Monday. What a load of crap!!!

I went outside and got the part number off my driveshaft and looked up the part number for an 05 and I find no difference whatsoever!

I can't believe they are being so friggin stubborn about lubing up my slip-yoke. I could do it myself, but why should I waste my money on lubricant if my truck is under factory warranty?!

Has anyone else dealt with this problem with an '06?

The slip/bump issue has been around for several years on Rangers, Broncos and F-series, especially those with factory lift blocks like yours. Greasing the yoke should be covered under the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty whether there is a TSB or not. I'd be looking for another dealer myself.

I have tried regreasing the yoke on the 3 Rangers that I've owned but found it to be only a temporary solution, effective for about 3~12 months. On my newest Ranger, I got rid of the bump completely and permanently by installing traction bars. This addresses the problem by controlling the axle's rotation - it also reduces wheel hop on and off road.
