Locker Detriot trutrac
#2
First off the Detroit True Trac isnt a locker. Its a gear driven limited slip. I have never used one before but from what i hear and from plenty of research the True Trac is by far the best limited slip that you can buy (Along with the Torsen). There are no clutches to burnout like other limited slips.

The Powertrax Lock-Rite or No-Slip are full lockers which ratchet/disengage when making a turn off throttle but lock again once torque is applied. I have had a powertrax no-slip installed for 35000+miles w/32" and now 33" cant even tell its there except for the inside tire chirping when I make a turn as i am hard on the skinny peddle. Also if anything it saved my tires as i would smoke the inside tire when making a turn when i had a open diff. Any car/truck i get from now that will take one will have one installed. Ratchet type lockers are also to easiest to install basic hand tools and a couple of hours and your done.

You would have to remove your open carrier and install a limited slip carrier. This would also require setting the gears up correctly. Which is a very precise job.
I have had my rachet type locker in for three weeks now. Its streetability is better than I expected. the way people talked about it I thought I would be chirping around every turn. The only time it has chirped is when i am making some tight turns in a parking lot. I have changed my driving habits slightly but nothing major. Off road it is much better than the L/S I had.

Ford calls it a TRACTION-LOK.
